I don't mean the starvation where you eat an apple a day. Mr. x's definition is no less than 20% below BMR. I'm having around 1100 a day and my BMR is around 2000 I think (I weight 153lbs). I've lost 7 pounds in about a week. I just wanted to know whats so bad about this. I don't feel like i'm going to pass out or anything. And the results so far are awsome. The only thing bad is that I keep waking up in the night time. Is that a side effect or that just psychological?

And eventually you'll have problems with the sex hormones, your thyroid, and your immune system. Longterm starvation-level calorie restriction is not a good thing, trust me...

Not too mention losing Muscle, and your body storing everything you eat... once you decide to eat properly again...

Kibslib, the posts before me have summed up all the problems, but, again, give it a shot and tell us if in 10 years you're not running to the doctor w/ liver/kidney problems and colon ineffectiveness due to your starving ways (all a side-effect of starvation). In addition, ORGAN failure can occur. So, if you want to do, that's of course you're choice, but if you're not in Oregon it's illegal.

Now, I know someone asked short term, SHORT-TERM there might be only 1 benefit and that's, (maybe), so water loss (subdermal and organal), beyond that, after the first day of starvation your body hits the triggor and you will not lose bf. Probably bone mass, muscle mass, organ tissue, then lastly when you went through it all you get fat-loss.

A very unfeasible way to diet.

In the short term, you will indeed lose weight, but most is just water. It'll then slow down considerably. The body will start shedding muscle. Some fat will be lost, but any calories coming in will preferentially go to fat storage due to elavated levels of lipoprotein lipase.

"Yo - Yo dieting" (Rimmer, 1994, pp-139)
It took 21 days to lose a specific amount of weight and 46 days to regain it when returning to a normal caloric intake.

In the next cycle, the same diet required 40 days to accomplish the weight loss and 14 days to regain it.

Conclusion

Yo-yo dieting may increase the activity of lipoprotein lipase (enzyme that promotes fat storage).

Yo - yo dieting perturbs the set point, causing increased activity of lipoprotein lipase (making it more difficult to lose weight).

As for why you're waking up at night, that's probably due to lower melatonin secretion and/or hunger pangs. Starvation might get short term results, but don't be surprised when your body says it's pay back time - with interest.

rofl thnx man. I like what u said. with interest :) Cool thnx for the info I'll have to change up my diet
