Spurrier quits Redskins

I got a $50 that says Florida buys out Ron Zook's contract so Spurrier can retake the job.

That wouldn't surprise me.

Or look for him to go to take the year off unless a blockbuster school opens up.

I'm glad he's gone.

Nebraska?

Job's open?
Winning tradition?
Passionate fans?
Big salary....

He won't go to another pro team.
1.Washington still owns his rights for 3 more years
2. He's saying his offense won't work in the NFL so there'd be no point taking it to another team.

Yeah I said Nebraska was a no go too, but all the factors are there. Spurrier's not going to takea team that needs to be built up.

I think he has a hook up in NC, but basketball is king there.....

I don't see a downside in Nebraska-Spurrier. Nebraska must have a top name coach who can get recruits by his name alone. Spurrrier can do that as well as anyone. Most of the other top names out there have skeletons - Mike Price, Rick Neuheisel, Jim Donnan won't cut it.

From WFAN, Mike is saying that he is probably headed to NC because he loves to golf and there is a super golf course near by.

No way it's Nebraska.

My bet, Wisconsin Osh-Kosh.

Why would you guess it would be Wisconsin Oshkosh...that is really much more of a Basketball focused school?

Anyway, Do you think he stepped down just so he wouldn't be let go...?

And is he getting penalized for breaking his contract?

Spurrier is the spawn of Satan, but we are not lucky enough to get rid of him all together, but I don't mind if he goes back to Florida. Have at it.

LOL right on there bro...

The cards here fired their coach too- you should see some of the names they are "entertaining"- they are in denial - no one in thier right mind should want to come here to coach the cards....

At least the bears have a chance if the McCaskey's ever pull thier head out....

I was laughing that Miami kept Wannie.... suckers.... that guy wouldn't win any games if it wasn't for his loaded roster....

I was kidding about the Wis-Osh-Kosh school.

I think he stepped down because he is so used to winning, he couldn't fathom another losing season.

And is he getting penalized for breaking his contract?

No, he is not getting paid and was supposedly let go on amicable terms.

Anywhere but the SEC is where he should go.

While Spurrier's methods would never work on any pro team the real problem with the skins is Daniel Snyder. As long as he owns the skins they'll be in the toilet.

WERD! If the little angry man would wake up, ala Jerry Jones, and realize that HE is the problem, then maybe he can hire somebody that can tell him to go to hell every now and then.

I have also heard that some members of the team resented Spurrier for not listening to their suggestions, as if he were still coaching college ball.

The Pro game is a different animal you have players who's input should be valued and incorporated into the game plan. That is one huge transition that college coaches for the most part cant or do not want to make.

I think Spurrier was destined to fail in the NFL with any team EXCEPT maybe the St. Louis Rams. If he had their offensive roster to work with, he just might've been able to make Fun n' Gun work in the bigs.

Spurrier is going nowhere but the SEC. I wouldn't be surprised if he sat out the year, and waited for Zook or Fulmer to fuck up. Yep, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he took the job at tennessee. Sure, Fulmer got a contract extension, but what does that mean? Coaches get fired all the time with years left on their contracts; the extension was for recruiting purposes. Remember, Spurrier is from Johnson City, and is as much of a legend in east Tennessee as he is in Florida. Spurrier also has got to go somewhere he can play golf year round.

I don't see going back to the SEC and not Florida. If I was Nebraska I'd be calling him 3 days ago.

He will go where offense is most needed, I'm sure. All the best offensive players in high schools automatically start considering your school when they find out they could be showcased in the Fun n' Gun. Spurrier is the ultimate offensive player recruiting tool.
