sprained ankle on cycle

So, I went hiking with my friend yesterday and I sprained my ankle pretty bad. I can't walk on it at all. I can't decide whether I should stop my cycle or not. Will it heal quicker if I stay on?

Anyone have any xp with ankle sprains?

Ice the shit out of it man. I'm sure you already know that but just in case you don't, Ice it good. I had my ankle sprained once when I was caught in a leg lock and the only thing you can really do at first is ice and elevation. You can also try some Asprin to get the inflammation down. There is also a naturopathic cream out there called Traumeel that could help.

As far as staying on cycle or getting off, I don't feel qualified to answer that.. I am not sure. Maybe base that decision on how it responds to the ice, Elevation and Asprin. If it still seems really bad in a few weeks and you cannot train effectively, go off.

Good luck.

Thanks for the advice. You sound just like my doctor. Basically, I was told to take Alleave, ice it, and elevate it. I don't think its a very bad sprain because its not swelling up too bad and there is no discoloration. After the Alleave kicked in I can walk on it a little, very slowly. I'm going to give it a few days and see if I can still hobble into the gym and work upper body and maybe leg extensions and leg curls. Squats, leg press, and calves are definitely out of the question for a few weeks. My doc is going to look at the x rays and call me, so what he says will determine whether I stay on or not.
