Splitting proteins and carbs post workout

it's know the reason to take hi gi carbs post workout is to replensih glycogen stores so that protein is spared right? I was told by someone, and this kinda makes sense to me that post workout you want to have a slight gap, say 10 minutes between taking carbs and proteins because if taken together straight after training, chances are that some of the protein is broken down into glycogen. Is this true or hogwash?

I'm curious about this too. I knock down one creatine/gatorade shake right after lifting, then a whey shake about 10-15 minutes later.
