Spin Class

definately get yourself a heart rate monitor if u don't have one already and start the resistance on the bike low and increase until u get into your target heart range. oh yeah and bring a towel;) and have fun!!! it's a great workout:)

Those seats can get pretty hard on the butt bones! Lots of the hard-core spinners bring their own padded seat covers or they wear the padded bike shorts.

i agree....also bring water!!

Have fun, pace yourself (it's intense!) & as for 'form' - try to picture making smooth circles with your feet - pushing AND pulling up. And wear pants or capris - the shorts I normally wear aren't very short, but they still ride up & it's annoying.

Oopsie, almost forgot. Get to class a little early & have the instructor help you set up your bike, you need to be sure your seat & handle bars are at the proper height.

You guys are champs- I couldn't have given better advice and I am a competetive racer!

I would suggest getting some good padded shorts though. And if you really get into it you can get some cycling shoes which will clip to the pedals (like ski bindings). They make it easier to pull up on the pedals and transfer all the power from your legs to the pedals.

FHG

oh yeah it will give you real nice legs!

Wow you are all great..... Thank you so much for the feedback.
I have been to intimidated to try but now since all of your wonderful feedback Im ready:D

Spinning Class

Make sure you don't wear shorts that ride up. Have the instructor strap your feet in tightly, so you feel more secure when you spin fast, and work hard!! Showering is great afterwards :-):D
