Some thoughts from sushi x

i have read many posts in the last week about america in general. i have said some things out of spite and anger without explainin why i feel the way i do. i've been accused of thought stopping, but to respond to that i have absorbed(sp) info from all sides, not just my side. i have concluded that people are intitled to their opinion and that is what it is, opinions. i do not agree with many of them but some i do. this thread is not meant to anger anyone, is not meant to be turned into a flamming match or name calling, it's simply to explain my thoughts in a peacefull calm manner. here goes:

strongchick, i apologize for calling you a communist and for insulting you. i do think you are thought stopping as norstrom put it. you do have a habit of taking one or two statements and and reacting to them publically without reading the preceedind text. you may be a smart woman but i don't think you are seeing the overall picture of things here. i will explain later. so from now on i will refrain from calling you a communist even though i think your views on certain things are in a way communistic. again, i am not flamming you and if it seems that way i apologize. nordstrom, i am sorry for calling you a liberal.

since the september 11 attacks many of us have been angered, frustrated and hurt like we have never been before. my fisrt reaction was nuke them all let allah sort them out. i was wrong in that as it was out of anger. the way i see it, we are doing the right thing going after bin laden. we have to get through the taliban first. i consider them an enemy of not only the U.S. but many other nations including their own. they are evil and have peverted a peacefull religion to suit their own lusts. i believe we will take them down and get bin laden. we have to remenber bin laden has done more to us than people are remembering. let's remember the embassy bombings that occured years ago, let's not forget the uss cole bombing. all were linked to him, so saying we should leave him alone is blasphemy. he is a criminal and should be brought to justice as should every other terrorist group. i don't think that will happen in my life time. i do know this, even if we don't get him, in the end he will pay for what he has done. i, being a christian, believe God will extract his revenge on bin laden.

this idea that is coming from some people that america is evil is disturbing to me. i just don't see how someon can live in this country and show so much hatred to it, yet use it's capitalist economy to advance. it's kind of hypocritical to me. yes, i admit people have died as a result of our actions. millions more have lived and been saved as a result of our actions. the good by far outweighs the bad. if we could do our duty and help others without the loss of innocent lives that would be wonderfull but it's merely impossible. i don't think we have killed as many people that has been reported. remember the old war tactict, kill your own innocent and blame it on the enemy. before you say our government did this to get us riled up for war, our government did not do it. those men are or were bin laden associates. now, back to the point. they use this tactict, others see it and believe it. i don't buy it. i will accept that a missle went astray and hit a civilian building and may have killed civies but that is a casualty of war. wwII was a perfect example. wwII is also a perfect example of the U.S. stepping in to help rid the world of an evil. if we had not helped defeat the nazis europe would still be under nazi rule today and so would asia and the middle east. that would have been devistating. many show more concern for the people in other countries than their own american brothers and sisters. it's bad to have them die but for our own to die is ok cause we brought this upon ourselves. i am tired of hearing that. go tell that to the people in NYC and the pentagon. they will tell you a different story.

this trhead is getting long so i will let this be my last thoughts. liberals. oh, here we go. i will try to keep this as nice as possible. i have no problems with them only their views. i want to protect the rights my forefathers fought to give me, and it seems they want to take them away. i feel i should not have to pay for people who dont want to work yet they give the impression that i should as it is my duty. i feel i should not pay such high taxes yet they give me the impression that i should since i make such little money. i should not have to work twice as hard and pay high taxes to fund programs that won't help me. i do nto want to pay for somone to get a welfare check, free/inexpensive healthcare, affordable medication, and free food. i work to pay my bills so i can get by, not someone who won't work. that is plain bull and something has to be done with it. liberals all say it's our duty to aid other nations. i wont argue with helping other nations but when we have children here who live on the streets and eat trash and yet we send food to other parts of the world instead of feeding them and getting them off the streets, that iritates me. we are to take care of our own first. we do need to change our policing policy to be more stategic and not just go policing everyone. moving back to the liberals, their policy on gays and lesbians is wrong to me. yes, i think they should live, work and pay taxes like the rest of us, no i don't think they should have the same priveleges as heterosexual married couples. speaking as a christian, homosexuality is an abomination but not the people. too many times we look at them not as people but their sexual preference. God loves them he just hates what they do with each other(the homosexual activities). before you go bashin my beliefs remeber where i am coming from and that this is a peacefull thread. if you are proud to be gay fine, don't go parading around town naked and butt plugging each other, that is nasty and distastefull. do it in private. liberals also seem to blame the white heterosexual male for all the problems. they think that oppressing the man now will make up for what happend in the past. it wont, it makes them no better than the so called opressive white man. reverse racism and sexism is the same as racism and sexism. there is no difference. malcom x was a racist, the leaders of the kkk are racists. both are ignorant and unethical.

finally, i just want to restate that i plan to fight for my country when need be. i will protect the rights my forefathers fought and died to give me, i will stand against all enemies foreign and domestic. i fear no man or woman, i fear no evil, i fear not for myself but for others, for i know my God is with me and will keep me until i die and join him in a better pace. i pray for this country and for the victims of the attacks. i pray for our soldiers over seas, i pray for the governments of the world, i pray for the innocent lives out there and i pray for a swift victory in afghanistan. i also pray for a more peacefull world and i hope others will share in my prayers. thank you all for reading this, God bless you and God bless America. peace!

i'm sorry if i offended you. do whatever you want. its just that sometimes people use tactics like that w/o being aware they are using them, making them slaves rather than individuals. if you voluntarily want to be patriotic, then use thought stopping. that will help. but if you are just doing it because you are accustomed to it, then you are brainwashed.

thought stopping was invented to cure depression. if you choose not to be depressed, then using thought stopping is a good idea. however, if you are in a religious cult and you use thought stopping w/o your consent or knowledge, you are brainwashed.

anyway, i didn't mean to give the impression that anyone/everyone who was conservative is brainwashed. i meant to say, if you are going to use thought stopping (more power to you if so), make sure you are doing it voluntarily.

hmmm. basically lets say someone says something deragatory about america.

if you say 'if you don't like america, leave' you have a ready made excuse as to why you shouldn't listen to his/her opinions anymore. and anytime that opinion comes up again, it won't get thru to you as you will have a 1 sentence method of distraction/inhibition.

if you are depressed, you are supposed to yell STOP when negative thoughts come up.
if you are a cultist, you are supposed to start chanting when negative info comes up.
if you are patriotic, you are supposed to say 'if you don't like america, leave' everytime anti-american info comes up.

if you do it involuntarily w/o your knowledge, then it should be classified as brainwashing. because it prevents someone from being able to mentally digest info that would release an idealogies hold on them.

well, i don't think citizens who have bad things to say about america should leave, i do think that these students that come here to go to our schools(universities) that hate us shouldl leave. they should'nt be here if they hate us. my belief is if you hate this country then why stay here? ya know.

i don't yell stop cause negative thoughts and info are unavoidable, so i try to see the possitive in things. i don't chant. and i was wrong to tell her to get out of the country, remember i did it our of anger. like i said i love this country. not just the physical land, ect, but the people, the freedom and the rights i have. i don't hate ryanh, strongchick, may1010, or anyone else. i may not agree with them but i don't hate them. we have differences of opinions but that does'nt men i hate them or wish them to go to china or something. i do think strongchick is thought stopping, it just seems that way, i may be wrong and i hope i am.

Sometimes people aren't as articulate as others, and what they write down may be misinterpreted by the reader. It happens in the written media often, and this board is no exception.

I love the USA... no where in the world do you have the economic opportunity to thrive as you do here. There are some things I would change about the USA, however. I would like to see the government take less of a "over-protective" parent role over the people... Let us think for ourselves. That is something I respect about other countries... many people there can see the forest for the trees and be able to come to rational conclusions on their own.

Anyway, just my .02... for what it's worth.

Just one remark, Suchi X. WW2 is not perfect example of US role.Your country entered in Europe in 1944, when the end of nazi was clear. Don't forget USSR lost 20,000,000 lives. For example, in my family I lost two grandfathers. Don't study history of WW2 by watching Saving private Ryan. Peace.

i have seen many documentaries about wwII, and have read about it too. i'm not the typical watch a movie to learn about history american. i do have saving private ryan but that does not show america's role only that these guys went to get privat ryan and take him home. without the U.S. the nazis would have won. the allies were hurting badly. but that is besidet the point. my point was our role was clear and today our role has changed.
