Some Insight....

I was raised with stories about the inhumanities of WWII then of the revolution of 1956.

Now I am married to a man who defended a country that shit on him for his service.

It's all good. He bears no resentment.

But I am livid for many reasons.

Only those who have served will ever understand it. I actually lied to my ex-wife about my service because I knew she would have questions that I couldn't give her the answers she would want. I've had some great conversations with some Vietnam vets over a beer.

good vid, thanks for sharing

Thats one old school dude.
They had some good stuff on the History channel this morning about the Enterprise, 20 battle starts during WWII, three more than any other ship and seven more than any other carrier.

Good vid.

I am POd about the way vets get treated in this country - especially the way some prics are vandalizing recruiting stations etc.

Too many have served and are then forgotten.

I originally saw that interview and footage on a Military history channel program. I remembered the name, searched the interwebs and I ended up finding it. I'm a letter writer for veteran's issues, my representative is on the armed forces committee.

That was a great vid. I have seen it before somewhere, but I can't put my finger on it. Repost? Have you guys seen any of The War by Ken Burns? I watched quite a bit of it on PBS. I have been meaning to buy it though.

I first saw it on TV and I've posted it a few times. I watched the series, there is a series called "The Color of War" that uses footage and letters like the Burns documentary.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Color_of_War

"Color of War is an award winning documentary television series about World War II that combines color film and photographs taken from government archives and private collections with first-person commentary from the combatants and the photographers who documented the struggle. Narrated by Peter Coyote, Color of War is the most extensive all-color documentary ever produced on the Second World War. Each episode in this epic collection focuses on a different aspect of the war, from pivotal battles to the struggles of first-time soldiers to adapt to life on the front. Illuminating the footage is a vast array of letters and diaries, communiques from the battlefield, and period music and sounds of the era, combining to create a powerful, intimate and unique look at the Second World War."
