So I just saw Anchorman...

...and has anyone else seen it? I was pretty disappointed. I'm a huge Ferrell fan as many people are, for all his snl work most of all, but man this was a drag. I have a feeling a lot of people will like it, many of those being people who didn't watch SNL much in Ferrell's heyday. It reminded me of a really bad SNL skit that lasted for two hours. Sure it had it's funny parts as any comedy is hopeful to have, but overall it was more of the same stuff.

It seems any comedies lately, especially the ones of the Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Wilson crew, are all starting to blend together. There are few actually creativehumorous situations and way too many instances of a type of shock humor. Where they will say something off the wall with weird delivery and strange words to surprise the audience into a laugh. It's only funny so many times, and this movie basically relies on it. This and Dodgeball were pretty hard to tell apart for me. A lot of similar/tired jokes and oddball unrealistic characters with a gimmick. It's like comedies anymore don't know how to actually be funny but are relying on clever odd words to describe a dick or screwing somebody. It's just pretty old. Anyways, that was my rant, anyone else seen it?

Hmm, that's pretty dissapointing. I'm probably gonna see it next week, then I'll see if I agree or not. I saw dodgeball...didn't find it that funny at all...chuckled a few times but that's it.

The previews to Anchorman didn't interest me much.

Just so you know.

Isn't every film, that features an ex-SNL cast member, a bad skit that last for two hours? I didn't even think Old School was all that great. Just bought the Best of Will Ferrell SNL DVD, and I laughed more at some of the skits on that, than I laughed in the entire length of Old School. I did like Elf though...

Old School, in my opinion, was probably the best comedy I had seen in the past few years. I thought it was great. As for movies with ex SNL cast members, they usually bite ass. are also plenty of movies with SNL cast members that are hilarious too though. A few of the early Sandler movies, Tommy Boy, Wayne's World 1 & 2 (my favs), and probably some other I can't think of.
