Slow pitch softball batting problems

I'm playing in a coed league right now. I haven't yet mastered the art of hitting a slow pitch. I've noticed some of the men take a good step into their swing. I'm used to baseball where you have to shorten your swing or you'll never be able to catch up to a fastball.

Two main problems most people have in slow pitch batting

1. Trying to hit the ball too hard

2. Impatience in waiting for the ball.

Only way to get better is to practice.

Softball bores the hell out of me as does baseball. Last time I was talked into playing, I got hit in the dick while playing the hot corner. Ball bounced up and hit me right on the pecker. Hurt like hell.
