Sleep (important!)

Hey everyone,

Just had a quick question. I know there are so many benefits to getting enough sleep and since i've been studying that that summer vacation has come i'm shooting for about 10 hours everyday (btw, i wanna grow taller too - i'm 15) . I go to sleep at 12:00 midnight because i seem to fall asleep easier when i go to bed late. BUT the promblem is I seem to wake up at around 8:00-9:00 in the morning and i can't go back to sleep again. Is there anything I can do/take to lengthen my sleep. I think melatonin is out of the question because it cannot be obtained in the uk so...

I only get 7.5 hrs a night and that i enough for me, but everyones different, it think it depends on age and what type of job you do.

If i get any more than say 9 hrs, i end up with little energy during the day.
 
Well, if you are waking up on your own then I would think you are ok. When I was younger I would wake up from hunger, if I only knew then what I know now. Maybe try eating some protien before bed like tuna or chicken. If you must drink a shake, make sure it's a long lasting type vs the quick acting whey type.

And your posting this on an AS board, try the training, supplements or diet boards.

i heard somewhere that getting anymore than 8-10 hours of sleep a day doesnt effect you anymore then 8 hours. thats all i sleep in a day.
 
Take this for whats it's worth but they had a report on the news stating that any more than 8 hours of sleep is actually detrimental to your health in the longrun. Of course they didn't back it with any data but that's what they claimed
 
I read the same thing 7 1/2 hours is enough or it will bring early death, although I have to have at least 9 hours to funtion I guess I 'm a goner.
 
i currentle go to bed around 10 pm and usually wake up around 11 oclock, is this to much sleep, because i feel better the next day when i have 10+ hours of sleep a night,

should i sleep less and set a alarm of is 13 hrs ok?
