shoulder pain

New member
ok so tonight i was incline benching and when i went to lift the bar off the rack i got this sharp pain in my shoulder. when i lift my arm up parrell to the floor it hurts. im thinking it my rotator cuff. dont think its torn but maybe pinched a nerve cause my arm got a little numb.is there anything i can do to help it instead of just resting it? like ice or heat?
thanks for any suggestions

Ice! I have had some shoulder problems and been told my more than a few doctors you can't really ice too much. As far as the injury, it could be a tear. If you just "pinched" something, you should ice like crazy and down some anti-inflammatories. Whatever is pinched will swell, and the shoulder doesn't leave room for swelling. What ends up happening is the swelling will cause you to get pinched more, and it will become a never ending cycle.

It's ice and rest partner and your question indicates you need some training. Bar-bell inclines and bench will destroy your shoulders; use dumbells or kettlebells. Here's why:

Once your shoulders are compromised it's usually forever and you have surgery somewhere in the future.

the funny thing is all i do is incline bench. been doing it for the last 3 years. i must have moved my arm out of position while lifting off the rack. Its a week later and my shoulder feel fine again. im still going to take this week off from benching and see how it feels next monday.
