Shots didn't work, now onto the Androgel . . .

I'm 30, T = 299, and doc gave me 3 shots of T, something like 200mg every two weeks for 6 weeks. It raised my T levels up to around 500 I think but I felt absolutely nothing. Didn't affect libido one bit. Now, levels have come back down and he's got me trying Androgel, one 5g. packet each day. SEems to be helping libido some. I'm also supposed to go see an Endo. at some point.

Question: is it unreasonable to expect some kind of maintenance dose to keep my T higher than 299, which although within "normal" range according to the doc, is pretty damn low for a 30 y.o. What's life going to be like at 40? Terrible.
