I used to have the same problem.I had to correct my form.
I started putting more hips and legs into it at the beginning
of the movement.this gave my shins a break and gave me
more power in the long run.
Not flaming anyone, but if you look in POWER MAG all the deadlifters have nasty scabs and cuts all down there shins.
Mine too take a bad beating, The pain in the shower afterwards is the worst.
i'm also 6'3 and i do not hit my shins....and YES if you do them right you shouldnt hit your shins!!!.....the first part of the deadlift motion is all ass and legs....pull your feet back a bit
