Serious Xanax Question

I was diagnosed a few years ago with social anxiety. I let it go untreated for along time and recently I started to see a doctor about it. He prescribed me Paxil which after going all the way up to 50mg over 2 months I got no benefit. I borrowed some Xanax from a friend, a few weeks ago which greatly reduced my anxiety and did not give me any side effects like drowsiness or feeling out of it.(and that was at a small dose) But when I asked my doctor, he told me he wouldn't prescribe it because it's addictive and it wouldn't be a good solution for me. I don't have insurance so I don't want to go from Dr. to Dr. trying to get what I need. Can anyone tell me what I should do? Should I try an online prescription place or order it from overseas? I know it will help me but because of my young age I imagine most doctors will think I'm just looking for a recreational drug. Thanks for any help.

Benzos in general create more problems than they solve. Xanax can be addicitive for some people, and the fact is that Xanax only works for a short time, say, a couple of months tops, and then you will need it just to function. I wouldn't recommend it. Strnagely, Xanax is better for people without anxiety problems, because it just makes them drowsy and does not result in addiction as often. Makes for a good sleep aid that way.

Everything shredded says is true... I have been on Xanax for over 4 years now... It fucking sucks!!! I have to keep some with me in the car, in my gym bag, with my guitar equipment. Pretty much anything that I would cary with me on a regular basis, because if I don't take it every 24 hours I cannot function like a normal person.
Trying to get off of the stuff is the worst experience of my life. I tried for a week once, but I couldn't do it... I just layed in bed, too lazy (sometimes too scared) to get out of bed, hoping that I would die. If you have heard horrible things about people trying to get off heroin then multiply that by 10 and you might be able to understand what it is like to get off Xanax. Unfortunantly for me, I have never gotten off it and I will probally be on it for the rest of my life.
Don't get me wrong, I think everyone should have some to take when they are extremely stressed out, it's a wonder drug for that. But once you take it everyday for a month or so you are shit out of luck because then you have entered my hell.
