Sending A Package Overseas

I would appreciate any input, especially from the experts and pessimists on this board he he he...

I am going to be in Europe, staying at an uncle's small hotel on the beach for an extended period of time. Where I am it is very difficult to get anything blackmarket and whatever is gotten is usually kept by the user rather than distributed because it isn't easy to get.

My theory would be that if someone were to mail from here a care package of goodies and candies, with a couple of vacuum sealed green surprises inside of say a re-sealed jar of peanut butter, to a fake name staying at said uncle's hotel, it would be very difficult to pin anything on anyone, no?

To add to this, the local post office in this very, very small tight-knit island town actually rents its space FROM the lobby of this uncle's hotel. They dont even use addresses they just deliver based on the person's name and/or business name. I would imagine they would barely glance twice at any packages marked for the hotel before walking it two feet next door to the hotel lobby.

Furthermore, the package could be left unattended until the lobby closes for the night at 2am and then removed, thereby preventing any undercover surveillance of package theft.

Worst case scenario..the package is confiscated at the country's customs.

What do u guys think, am I nuts or is this a pretty good hypothetical plan?

A good way to ship IMO [not that i've ever done this] is to hollow out a book and pack in that. Dont hollow out too much. You dont want a dictionary weighing 3 ounces. Shrink wrap this in plastic if you can. Your hypothetical plan sounds good otherwise.
