I agree! Personal responsibility is the answer... NOT bans and laws! Criminals will commit crimes, and druggies will use drugs, and banning either of those, simply creates hassles and bogs down the court system and overburdens the police. In Texas, just about everyone has a CCW permit, and carries a gun, and the only places where any major shootings have taken place within Texas, are places where guns are locally banned (as in the social club on the military base a few years ago, and in a building at UT Austin). Why did those happen? Because the law-abiding citizens who own guns, left them locked up elsewhere, and didn't break the law to carry them in where they could have been used to save lives.

I completely agree man up here in Mass it took me 3 months to get my ltc and hat is fast for up here Mass still has the assault weapons ban in place for the state but it oes not stop gun crime. Education education education. Guns are tools.
Yes it's a strange phenomenon our country seems to have lately, placing blame on inanimate objects before the person who decides to use them for ill purposes. Just a complete lack of maturity and social understanding.

I think the NRA just set a new record for the level of lies and misinformation in one 4 minute video.
I saw a lot of pissed off and outraged people. I heard Obama's name a lot. But I didn't learn anything, except that I should be scared and mad at Obama.

Did you notice they never mention anything specific that Obama, or that "they" are doing? That's kind of clue to wake you up from your brainwashing, Hansel.
Obama is right that a crapload of guns in Mexico came from the US. The exact number is widely debated but it doesn't matter. What is Obama going to do about it? Nothing.
So you can crawl out from under your bed and let go of that rifle. No one is coming.
I saw a guy on TV with a gunshop in El Paso. He sold something like 50,000 semi automatic rifles last year. There aren't enough people in El Paso to support that business. Everyone knows they are going across the border. He is breaking no laws. That's the good old USA for you.
But if you lived in Juarez and knew friends and family that had been killed, which everyone in that city has had friends and family killed, you'd probably be a bit concerned over shops on the other side of the fence selling 50,000 rifles. It's a war zone over there, but fuck'em they're just Mexicans right?

Imagine how much less crime there would be if these thiefs didn't know if that man or woman they are about to rob or rape is packing heat or not. They'd probably think twice about it.

Homocide rate here is now below 1 per 100,000, so low it is insignificant. Far more likely to die in a car accident or due to a medical mistake.
Violence, apart from alcohol related fights, is also very low here. If you don't drink to get drunk and don't hang out with people who do it's not an issue.
Your urge to keep your guns and your fear of losing the right to own/carry guns stems from your anxiety about your society and your own insecurities.
