Security at Six Flags

Today I went to six flags in New Jersey with a large group of friends. Anyways, my friend has this switchblade/lighter thing that he always carries with him... it looks like a lighter, but if you hit the button, the knife just pops out. Anyways, we're going through the metal detectors and what not... so he empties his pockets and put its in the tray. Gets through fine but the security guard picks it up and looks at it. He then asks my friend what it is and said its a lighter (shows him how its lit). The guard takes it back and asks what the metal side part sticking out is. My friend says its just a design, so tHe guard takes it back, looks at it, then sees the button. He presses it but not hard enough and nothing happens. Then just hands it back over to my friend.

Now seriously.... i was really shocked that the guard didn't figure out what it was. There was a button right there and a metal part on the side... clearly the characteristics of a switch blade. Shouldn't these people have better knowledge of weapons and such? Some security eh?
