Scammer

The moral of the lesson here:

Always include the fact that a scammer post is Mod approved... and name the Mod who approved the post.

Then when you contact the Mod with the info they should cover the rules for these posts. I made more than one contact to cover my bases and noone gave me the protocol to follow. We are not all out here flying off the handle with information.

There was no lesson here as I followed the rules that I thought existed.

The goal is to keep others from being scammed, not playing board police.

amen to that. :D

:eyes:<-------board cop, watching you!

*****EDIT BY MOD!

Board police huh. If thats how you feel you are on the wrong site guys. If you think protecting the members of this site is LESS important than some guy loosing a few bucks on a buy, then you should leave right now. This is about security, wake the hell up.

No, the POINT is that before scammer info is posted, that you must be ABSOLUTELY SURE that the info is correct, and that he is a scammer.

We had an incident not long ago, where someone was SURE that someone scammed him, swore up and down, only to find out it was a misunderstanding. The post saying that someone was a scammer was bumped, quoted, posted, and went all over the place. Who knows what might have been done to a good source? Who knows what someone may have done if they decided to play vigilante?

Oh - and the "retraction" post, where the guy said "oh, sorry, turns out he was not a scammer after all" was hardly seen and in fact was removed from the board.

And now that he WAS a legit source, then any records of that name ends up being a source posting, placing the Board at risk.

And, becuase one dude jumped-the-gun, a source was now gone.

Half the the guys who THINK they got scammed are basically pissed because its taking longer than an amazon.com order, or they are whining because their email took longer than 3 days to get a reply. I am not saying that you did this, but the fact is that the mods and the board need to screen out legit scamming reports from those dudes who are just whining or impatient, or maybe even just have a personal vendetta against someone (that HAS happened before).

So, don't whine about the board polices in verifiying when someone is a scammer. Placing the name of the Mod who approved the notice is a very very small thing to ask of you and a small price to pay.

Waiting a while, exhausting EVERY POSSIBLE SOLUTION amd VERIFYING the issues are whats needed.

And following the board rules are a requirement, without question.

OK, one more time...I understand the reason that we have the policies..they were followed to the letter including two board checks for possible busts.

Now I waited until I lost total contact with the scammer and then e-mailed a mod, they ask me to contact them again and give it some reasonable time. I did that.

I ask for some information from the board and found out that this one has been complained about recently by others.

I followed the rules, can you not read? Took my time was patient about the process, so stop with the be careful routine, I was. This guy is a scammer, we all aren't dumbasses out here we know when we have been fucked.

So again, to the sensitive ones..I followed the fucking rules.

Again, no problem. I am not questioning whether you followed protocol, it just semed you were making an issue of whining about having to do it

"The goal is to keep others from being scammed, not playing board police."

Well, playing board police, i.e. following the rules IS more imprtant than any one single scammer report.

Hulkster AKA scammer hunter.....post all pertinent information. thread is cleared for lift-off! we want name, address, telephone, date of birth, penis size, everything. :alien:

I waited several weeks and made all the attempts to let this scammer redeem themselves, consulted the board, e-mailed a mod..I understand the need to not be "Little boy Blue".

And my point is that people have jumped all over this without looking at previous posts by me on this very subject.

You know this damn scammer is looking at this shit laughing his ass off.

not if the info is kept confidential he wasn't!

posting people's information... even if they are scammers... can lead to serious legal consequences for the owner of the site where they are posted.

Hulk already posted on another thread of mine..that is one of the main issues that I have with the board police..hall monitors..babysitters.

I am pissed, I got scammed, took my time, was patient and I have too listen to crap about this fucking scammer who is sitting around spending scammed money.

Hopefully you all understand.

What I object to here is the using of this site to sollict vengeance. This is a business. You didn't pay for it. You don't operate it. And you don't show respect for it when you try to use it as a forum for pursuing revenge.

The posting of a scammer's private information can create legal difficulties for the owner of the site. Period.

Zoomster said:

Now that makes sense..so if anyone is interested you can PM me or e-mail me as I stated in the first postof this thread.

Hulk provided a lot of great information..the guy is simply amazing.

Hulk missed his calling. He needs to work for the National Center for Missing and Abused Children. I'm not kidding. The guy has a gift. He could be out their finding missing kids.

Sofa,

You know, what I am sick of is that you jump the fucking gun every time. I have all of this guys information, yet read the very first post of this thread.

What is your problem? Are you up for mod?

Quit stating the damned obvious..stop talking like you owned the site mister. You are just someone who obviously has very little to do.

No... I'm just somebody who has seen more than a dozen honest sources have their info posted publicly because they didn't provide the service of 1-800-FLOWERS.

I personally think Mods should ban all scammer posts.

Very rarely do real scammers have their info posted. Constantly, though, good sources have their information compromised because of dumbass kids.

Are you serious? You think that once the process has gone through the proper channels that all scammer posts should be eliminated?

So if I have information that someone is scamming on this board or elsewhere..I should not forwarn my bro's?

And this is because someone accidently interuppted the business of another source that you know of?

Then send me my losses and we can call it even.

Nope... that's not the reason I think they should be banned at all. I think they should be banned because I don't think most of the people posting here have the brain power or maturaity to make good decissions. That's why there are so many bad and hasty postings of good sources's info... at great expense to the sources.

People should do source checks before they order. The Mods are capable of knowing who a scammer is and telling someone via secure mail not to deal with them.

Your posting the info on a public board isn't necessary. You simply want to do it because you lost a small amount of money and you are angry and frustrated. The scammer isn't going away. Your post will be gone in a day or two... and pretty much forgotten. What won't be forgotten is the Mods knowledge base of who is a scammer.

Source checks, IMO, are the only logical safety system. Posting the info on the boards is just a bad idea.

I don't disagree with source checks..good idea.

I have more than one source. Actually I have three.

In this case all of them including the scammer were referrals.

I was looking for something specific which none of my credible sources had.

Tried this one on a referral.

Ended up being a scammer...now I guess according to you I should just suck it up and not let others know for fear of improperly exposing someone?

What remotely makes you think that your posting this info will stop anyone from being scammed by him. He can get a new post office box and a new email address in about 5 minutes. There are about 12 different cities in driving distance from his town... so setting up in a new local will take about 30 minutes.

I'm not trying to hammer you down. I know you are pissed about this, but truthfully your psot isn't going to do jack to stop him from scamming.

The ONLY thing I have ever seen that cuts down on people being scammed is source checking and verifying referals.

I see people posting "scammers" info all the time. Always claiming they are trying to keep other people from being scammed. (I've even posted scammer info when it comes as unsollicted mass emails.) But you are kidding yourself if you think you are doing this for any reason but anger. It isn't going to keep one person from being scammed by the guy.

Source checks and verification of referals will.

Bro, people are trying to back you, and help you out, but you are too pissed and acting like little ripped off kid to see it.

Calm the hell down. Everyone is on your side.

If you want to be pissed at the scammer, fine. But lay the hell off of dudes who are basically backing you. We are just trying to keep all of this -on-the-level so that the best interests of the SITE, and ALL of its members AND you are taken into account.

You got ripped off. You are pissed. Fine. Be pissed at the guy who ripped you off - not the world.

sofa the problem with one of your statements is that it is impossible to tell when a source will turn scammer. The source may wait for a certain fund to arrive and then bang!!!! he is done with selling gear.... It could happen to me after I cleared the person with 10 mods then cleared he or she with you...

Just my point of view. This game is built on trust and it seems that trust is hard to come by. Kinda sucks but it is true....

I'm not unaware of that. I believe almost all internet sources will turn scamemr when they decide to leave the business. Hence, never order more than you can lose.

It's part of the game for you guys if you want to source on the net.

Thanks to all for the support.

Now let me get to the point, Ryker, yes I got scammed, no,I am not pissed at anyone other than the scammer. My whole point is that you all seem to be pro scammer.

or afraid that a good source might be named scammer, when I followed all of the rules, determined this person to be a real scammer and I am still taking shit for it!

WTF is this?

You say Thanks, and then say I seem to be pro-scammer? Dude, get a clue.

You arent "taking shit for it" - at least from me you arent. You are sounding like a defensive little boy.

My point was that you appeared to be WHINING a bit about following the board rules - making VERY sure that someone was ascammer, and then makking sure to list the Mod that approved the scammer notice. OK, cool, you did those things. I simply told you to not complain about these rules, they are there for the protection of EVERYONE. And I am sorry but the BOARD andf the INTEREST OF EVERYONE are more important than YOU personally. So yeah,m the ruiles may get in teh way, but dont complian - they are for everyones protection.

Then YOU took that as some peorsonal attack.

Well dude, I never attacked you personally, I was trying to point out to you the importance of those rules. And now you say it appears that I am pro-scammer? What a dick you are being.

At this point, I am glad that others are aware of the fact that there is a scammer out there.

But as for you, I could care less now. Saying I "appear to be pro-scammer" - what a bunch of bullshit. Totally un-called-for and fucking wrong.

NEVER post personal information about anyone. That is not only a violation of the rules, its common sense. You can post an email address or whatever, but city locations is way over the line and can cause legal issues for this site and for yourself.

I think that Sofa and Riker were both on target with this entire thread. Instead of people getting all hell bent and ranting etc, they should calm down, and try to think with logic and some maturity.

For those of you that think people were being harsh or out of line all they did was try to protect you. Please think before you do things and better yet, instead of blaming others for not telling you what to do, take some responsibility and ASK what you should do and what "protocol" is.

Personal info has been removed for the safety of the board and its members.

Nice rebound for EF, please give the same attention to all scammer posts.

Ryker, I owe you an apology..please accept.

Sofa, same, you are just protecting the whole system.

If I errored in any way it was this...check, check, check and then check again..ok.

But, I have too say this, [email protected] is a scammer.
