After reading the thread "the Light was on", my co-worker told me that Krispy Kream is going under!

Please say it ain't so!

Can anyone give me the skinny (no pun intended) on this newsflash??

I never liked KK........... but a local brewpub who had THE BEST nachos around here closed 12/31 -- a VERY good thing for me!! :verygood:
 
i know their stock has dropped off, the local police station here is suing them for falsifying stock reports.

I only ever had one chance to try these baddies and we had hopes of them planting one up here in my neck of the woods. If this news is true my hopes are dashed against the rocks of despair but my waist line is saved.

I don't know how these guys could be in financial straights!!?! People up here order up hundreds of dozens of these baddies for fund-raisers and they last all of about 3 hours!!
If their that popular, what's the deal?? :confused:

If you want a serious answer, they aren't that popular. The low carb diet has decimated bread makes and dough nut makers. Other doughnut makers have changed and beefed up their coffee selection to compensate. KK hasn't. They are sticking to the "tried and true" formula of customer loyalty.

Or at least they did, until about six months ago, where they tried different coffees and other offerings to compete.

cuz when I go there they just keep givin me all those free samples. I eat a dozen witout buying any...saves me $7.
 
I think they did some fudging on their books to investors..

In Toronto. a few stores have closed
