Hey, any poor citizens like me who owns a Saturn ? I need some informations. Just test drive last friday a Saturn VUE. Nice look, AWD, good engine and only 21 000$ (canadian). But my main concern is the reliability of this brand. I owned a Civic 93 so it can only be better but if someone has feedback, please post it. I take a decision by the end of the week :)

Saturns have had a good history of being good buys. Of course now GM has brought them further under their control so I'm sure that reliability will fall to shit though.

Care to explain ? I thought GM was a serious company ?

Owned, now owns.

check eopinions & carsurvey.org for alot of owners and what they have to say.

I have a 1992 Saturn that still runs well. The A/C keeps losing it's freon so every 2 years that needs to be fixed for about $250 US. I test drove a VUE also but what I didn't like about it was the cheap plastic interior.

PS -- American cars are not known for their reliability and are known for their "cheapness."

I agree, the interior isn't fantastic but at this price, I cannot really complain about it. Probably the only SUV I can afford for now.

Why do you feel you need an SUV, especially one that is built off a car and can do nothing that an SUV can do?

Don't be like everyone else!

I like their looks. I had a crappy Civic cause that's all I could buy back then. If I had let's say, 80k$ in my pockets right now to spend on a car, I'd buy a X5 or a Cadillac SRX.

I dont like saturns for their crappy plastic quater panels and such, but other then that its a cheap buy and will probably do what you want

LOL. hyundai & Kia make SUVs too, you want to look at them? they also make luxury autos. I always found that cute, the most low cost auto company trying to edge in on a market based on excesses.

Are you buying new or used? if you shop around chances are you can get a 3 year old SUV for 1/2 the price of a new one. Why not get a 2002 Jeep instead of a 2004 Saturn?

LG

I had a 1999 saturn that I bought new when I was in the military. I put that thing through hell....roadtrips etc, 150,000 miles in 4.5 years. (For you Canadians that's like 240,000 kilometers).

Anyway, 2 accidents, hundreds of roadtrips, dozens of speeding tickets, stolen twice, and the thing still runs perfectly.

It doesn;t offer many luxuries, it's not the most comfortable car - I have a Lexus now and I could never go back. However, it served its purpose very well, and actually still runs great.
