if you were to do the SAME job in a different state, how much extra per year would you require? what would you take in to account?

It would depend on the cost of living in that state......for example - Sales tax on purchases if you move from a state that doesn't have it to one that does, the amount of the sales tax, income tax of the state, property tax on said state, costs to lease/finance a car from the one state to the other, etc....
