This entire thing is rancid - I see all these conservative pricks that you just know are drug war champions:
"Oh Rush is so brave, so courageous, look he told the truth, let's all pray for Rush..."
What pathetic display.
Courageous? Brave? Honest? Rush has funds in 9 figure digits and is a drug war champion.
Who is more deserving of sympathy? This guy or the faceless ghetto child who gets busted to life in prison for his crack habit.
I hope Rush will do the right thing.
Rush is his own worst enemy, in this situation. As you stated he is a vehement anti-drug irrationalist, as is Hannity, Gingrich, Bennet, and the other conservative pundits. Their idiotic idea that "drugs are bad" is coming back to bite them in the ass, and rightfully so.
While my beliefs coincide, more often than not, with Limbaugh, I have always despised his erroneous stance on drugs. Drugs have no morals, only humans do. A drug can do nothing. The user is the one who can either choose not to use a drug, use a drug wisely or use a drug recklessly. Drugs do not take control of the person and force them to do things against their will. They can provide escapes from reality and cause physiological dependence, but this does not remove the responsibility of the user. Individuals who have undergone detox, and have no remaining drug in their system, many times relapse and use drugs. If the drug is not in their system, then the person willfully chose to use the drug.
Listening to the pundits, such as Hannity, who still holds this retarded view that drugs take hold of their victims, I constantly question: "what is Limbaugh doing that is immoral"? He states that he used pain-killers to relieve pain, and I assume that he is still using them for this purpose, since I have not heard that he is free and clear of his surgical related pains, so the question is: "what is wrong with the relief of pain"? Is he knocking over liquor stores for drug money? Is he discarding his work to use drugs? Is he on his death bed and still searching for a fix? From what I see, he is still a productive member of society, he is not harming others and his drug use is allowing him, whether physically or mentally, to maintain his status. How is this harmful?
The only thing harmful to Limbaugh is his stance of drugs, which is fodder for his enemies.
