Running for Cancer????????

Why do people run marathons for cancer? Breast cancer walks ect? I don’t get it. do they have to pay to run or something? are they fund raisers or what? And why running? Why not something a little more fun and easy? Fishing for cancer, or eating for cancer...

i think they are fundraisers and the reason why the run is to show that it can be tough but you can get through it if your strong mentally and physically

lol "eat for cancer"...I volunteered for march of dimes passing out hot dogs and gatoraid ,signing people up...it was kinda fun.

People pledge money and you have them sign and promise a certain amount if you finish the race or walk.Its usually realy easy like 3 k or something.

Some fundraising from the event but also awareness of the disease in the community by having events where people come together in the community to show support and to have a good time. Many different ones that take place but athletic ones seem to attract the most people b/c you can hold them outdoors in great numbers. Also the awareness leads to contributions after the event as its in their mind when people think of donating to charities. Plus its just good healthy fun

THe death toll in Iraq is slight(unless you know them). Theyd stand a better chance living there and getting killed than the mistakes that occur in each year in hospitals resulting in death.
