you can get it here (approved by the FDA in 2000, I believe) so I'm sure you can get it there.

but, unless there is some use for it that I'm not aware of.... IMO the person needing it should go to the doc. It's good for up to 7 weeks after the last cycle, and there is another medication as well. There are places the person can be anonymous as far as their normal doc, etc. are concerned.

I am not sure about RU486 but two meds that are I am familiar with are: Ovral and methotrexate

Ovral is an oral contracetptive that can be used for Emergency Contraception. IT MUST BE GIVEN WITHIN 72HOURS AFTER INTERCOURSE and a follow up dose 12 hours after that. you give two doses of combined 50mcg of ethinyl estradiol and .5mg DL-Norgestrol. It is used in ERs after rapes/date rapes but must be followed up with serial pregnancy tests to confirm contraption it is 75% effective.

Methotrexate is an immunosuppresive drug that can be used up to 6 weeks after contraception for TUBAL PREGNANCIES. must be followed up closely to ensure abortion.

I know they do have another med that is offered at abortion clinics, has to be given no later than 7 weeks after the beginning of last menses. (very small window of opporitunity to use cause by the time you miss your last period its already been at least 4 weeks) I will post it if the name pops into my head.

The morning after pill, the one given within 72 hours is different. Can't remember the name but has less sides. The RU-486 MUST be given along with prostaglandin in order to be fully effective for abortion. The sides are terrible for many women.

they should make the 72 hour pill over the counter, that way you can have a bowl of them by your bed and hand them out to girls in the morning as they leave your place

I think that is the case in some European countries (not UK) but as Manny states The sides are terrible for many women. I am not aware of the drug that is just for 72 hours afterwards as i have always referred to RU 486 as the morning after pill hence the terminology can be misleading
