Romaine Lettuce

It's good, but that which is not organically grown has been shown to contain pesticides which can be detrimental, especially when the lettuce is consumed in bulk amounts.

What should one do about this if money is an issue? Not bother with the lettuce due to the health risks of pesticides and, instead, use a multivit or two?

Or eat the store-bought, non-organic lettuce and hope the pesticides don't detriment your longevity?

Wouldn't washing the lettuce remove said pesticides as shown in the apple incident with Agar or whatever it was called?? The apple thing was such a big deal, but they found washing them removed the stuff.....

Wash the leaves well, allow to dry somewhat & roll up in paper towels to keep longer....

I'm afraid it's not that easy

Pesticides and other chemicals are mostly on the exterior of fruit/vegetables but you'll also find some elsewhere

I try to, but here in DE, the pesticides & toxins are in the air I breathe every day.....we are the state with the highest cancer rate in the country

I go skiing every year in Killington, VT & as soon as I get north of Albany, NY -- I find I can actually breathe.....it's amazing what clean air feels & smells like...

Back on topic...I get organic baby spinach by the bag at my local supermarket. Lettuce is almost devoid of nutrients but spinach is awesome. My standard salad with dinner every night is baby spinach, tomato, red onion, mushrooms, green olives, yellow peppers, feta, EVOO and balsamic. I use a 3qt aluminum mixing bowl and fill it about 1/2 way. Good shit!!!
