Ripped off by an E-BAY guy...

I wanted to buy a laptop, and after some research I figured that Gateway 450XL fits my needs very well. So now I only had to find one for a good price. I searched some more, and found it on ebay for $1250. I contacted the seller by email, and he told me he will sell it to me for $1150 off of e-bay. I said OK, and sent him the money via Western Union. More than a week later, I still don't have my laptop, and the bastard does not reply to my emails anymore. He was supposed to send it as soon as he got the money, which was the next day after I sent it.
I'm fucking pissed. Thinking of flying to Chicago to find him and break his legs with a baseball bat. Shit, I'll hire a detective if I have to, just to find his candy ass. Damn!

There was a similar thread about this a few days ago.
Do a search and you´ll find some very useful tips.

Hope you nail the guy!

Go to ebay...file a complaint.

I think they can help you get some money back.

Since you made the transaction "off" of ebay. I don't know that they will have a remedy for you.

A couple of options for you would obviously be to contact the local authorities.

Another would be to post the individuals information here. Maybe a few dozen phone calls from all over the country may intice the person to send the computer.

This has proven very effective in the past.

Not to flame, but WHAT THE FUCK were you thinking??

Western Union?? That is what drug dealers use to accept payments because it is extremely hard to trace. That is ridiculous.

Also, by doing it off e-bay, you are not elegible for any fraud remedies or anything like that. Shit, on e-bay you could of sent the money with a credit card and been covered from fraud by your cc company and e-bay.

Did you even check the seller's comment list??

You are totally screwed, and well deserving of it.

I was scammed $900 recently by someone who created a phony ebay account with my credit card and sold himself merchandise under a second phony account. (I have no idea how he got the number, probably from a receipt in a restaurant or store.) I recovered my money because my credit card has fraud protection.
