Retin-A for acne while on AAS

Has anyone tried this? It's available on 4rx.com. I remember some of the kids I went to school with as a teenager using it with good results. Just curious if anyone here has used it though.

definite sides - hard on the liver, dry lips, sensitivity to sunlight

possible sides - depression

i did not have fun stacking it with aas - felt like shit (tired and sad lol)

When I was in HS, I got some retin A that was in a gel form (apply it to the pimple). It wasn't the best stuff in the world but it did work somewhat. Some decent salicyclic acid soaps from Neutrogena aren't too bad. I have wondered if that stuff that Jessica Simpson advertises works like they say.

swole, are you thinking of Accutane? I know the symptoms you described fit that drug profile. I have not herd of them for retina....i have used both. It would be scary if these symptoms were also charecteristic of retina.

Tried "accutane", miserable experience. Worked pretty good but at what price? Messed up liver valuse, dry lips, peeling skin, thirsty all the time.

I now use minocycline prn, wash daily will salicylic soap(sometimes twice if needed), and use salicylic pads for touch up. Get's rid of most of the acne without hammering my body.

The very best thing for back and body acne is to wash well then use rubbing alcohol on your skin. This kills the bacteria that causes the acne. You still have the extra sebum but there are no bacterium to cause the acne. I use the wintergeern type and it works wonders. I have told this to a number of people and it has helped evryone of them. It's cheap and doesn't put a strain on your liver. Give it a try and see if it helps.

When I use it on my back I have the alcohol in the shower and just pour it on the back brush. Scrub my back with it and no acne for me.

I used a prescription Retin-A cream for stretch marks. Slight burning of the skin was my only side. Faded the stretch marks pretty well.
I also tried it on backne - didn't seem to do more or less than zit cream at the dollar store.

tazorac(tazarotene) cream is a new and improve version of retin a, works much better. i had severe acne due to pct over use and it cleared it up after a month. strongest thing before resorting to an ingestible retinoid like acutane

i agree! i tried both of these products. the tazorac was starting to work slightly and then my derm wanted to run accutane to prevent futher scarring. try washing with HIBICLENS, it works wonders. you can get it for like 5 dollars at local pharm.

Depending on how bad your acne is and where you are getting it...

Since it is the summer, your skin will be pretty oily anyway, so only use Retin A at night and maybe even alternate with the cream. (I personally like Differin and the cream.)

I would suggest if you get spotty pimples to got to the Mario Bandescu site and get the drying lotion. It is the BEST one day cure to get rid of zits in a night. You just stick a q-tip in the bottle (dont shake) and apply to the zit. It is a pink color and use it before bed or throughout the day if at home, works great. Also you can use a few different toners, like Kiehls...tea tree oil for summer, as it is not too harsh and wont dry the heck out of your face. Use the Blue astringent on your back and shoulder areas in the morning after you shower and even when you get home.

Try a face wash with no perfume smells, like Neutrogena, which was mentioned or an Aveeno soap, fragrance free.

You have to remember that acne from using steroids is different than regular acne from natural production, as the steroids will reporduce the oil over and over excess via the steroids, so it is almost the same as chemical wizardy in stacking as in keeping your face and body from breaking out. Dont over[ly] dry out your skin and yet you need to dry it enough.

Tanning seems to work as well, but not for everyone. Try the Kiehls product line at kiehls.com...they are great ! If you need to pick out a few, I would use the Tea tree oil, blue astringent and the Calendula to even out your skin tone, if you get scars, etc.

May seem like a girly post, sorry, but if you are using all this gear to chisel your physique, having good skin will only help the overall package.
