ReplayTV/TiVo - opinions??

I wanna know this too. I'm thinking about getting one.

Tivo is single handedly one of the greatest inventions ever made. I've had mine for over a year, and I love it. I can pause TV for 30 minutes, meanwhile go take a dump or make something to eat, come back and watch what I was watching. plus I have like 30 hours of seinfeld and simpsons on my tivo.

not only that, for about $100, you can add 80 hours to your tivo. it's not supported by tivo, but it's very easy to do.

Does it work with Digital Cable systems?

I wanna get one to tape West Wing on. Past my bed time....go ahead and laugh you heartless bastards...

you can program it to tape the whole season... and it's smart enough to not tape repeats episodes.

It sounds much smarter than my ex-wife. She taped over both my Bugs Bunny tapes and my Ren & Stimpy tapes. It was probably for Golden Girls or some shit like that.

I think it was you. You seem like you'd like Blanche.

They are both good systems, TiVo reaquires you to pay a monthly fee ($12 if i'm not mistaken) for the 'program guide' service. If you stop paying, then you have a paperweight on your hands. Apparently there is a package for something like $300 that you can pay all in one shot and get 'lifetime' updates- but i'm not so sure about that- if TiVo goes belly up then your stuck with no recorder...

Replay on the other hand, is more of an investment, BUT you dont have to deal with the whole pay for your guide shit.

If I were getting one, I think I would go for Replay, just because with the way the economy is now, and all these tech companies dropping like flies, I really dont need to go out and drop $300 on a box that in a few months might be as useful as a door stop...
