Replacing CD drive with CD burner???

My CD burner works OK, I wish it was faster at 16-10-32 though.

CD player seems to be kaput. Would I be asking for problem if I replaced the CD player with a high speed CD burner?

Could I then burn 2 CDs simultaneously at an efficient rate of speed?

dont do that lol. thats asking for problems. just take both drives out and replace the burner with a faster one.

I agree w/ audiophyle. I got a 48x Sony burner at Staples for like $60. Fast as hell, and haven't burned a single coaster yet.
(My old HP 4x burner would give me buffer-underruns on every other attempt.)

The CD player works on "factory CDs" but will not read the photos on the CDs that I burn.

just a thought...

Are you using the 80-minute CD's to burn on? It could be that the older cd-player is having a hard time with the media. Try burning something on a regular 74-minute CD and see if that works.

They were the old 650MB CDs. I made a ton of coasters today out of Kodak siver and gold CDs that I bought off of Ebay. They are 1-12X....maybe that is part of the problem.

Some CD Players. A handful. Usually older ones won't read burned CD no matter the media or speed they are burned at. If that was the case with my CD player I'd replace it.

Replace both with a 40+ CD drive burner.
Internal

You may have conflicts and slower throughput speed trying to burn with 2 devices at the same time.

make sure and keep your firmware up to date... go to the manufacturer's website and download the latest... you'll be impressed with the difference in performance from new firmware.

If you look around you can get a free CD burner after rebate(s) at places like Best buy, Circuit City, Comp USA, etc... I just picked up a free one for my Dad.
