Badass fuckign movie.. Brad Pitt may not be that big but god damn he looked muscular in that movie.

The guy that Played Hector was pretty muscular....

Great action.. could have been a little more gory.. but a very well done movie.

LOL and the HUGE fucker in the beginning.. my god the guy looked 7ft tall. Anyone know who is actually is. Achilles didnt seem to have much of a problem with him.

Ummm, do you have good taste, because if you are serious and this isn't a total joke thread I might actually see this movie.

Here is a test - did you like Alexander too?

Spoiler

I just don't know why they didn't shoot Achilles with arrows after he killed Hector. Heck, I would gave the order to shoot him soon as he rode up. Dumb trojons.

Exactly. Exactly. You could have said the Trojans stood down because Hector wanted the honor of fighting Achilles man to man but the Trojans should have let the arrows fly as soon as Achilles dragged Hectors body.

Uhh Curling you arent to familar with Mythology are you?

Achilles was invulnerable until they hit him in the ankle.. thats why they made it a poitn to show that shot first with Hectors brother killed him..

and Alexander was by far one of the most boring movies Ive ever seen.

Achilles was invulnerable because immediately after he was born his mother dipped him in the river Styx (no not the band Curling) She held him by his ankle.. so that was his only soft spot..

Because of this he was immune to mortal weapons.. and if you look there are two scenes where they depict this..

in the first sceen he gets jabbed with a spear before gouing into Appolos temple.., nothing hapens.. in the second scene Hecotr slices his chest with a sword and nothing happens.. Achilles even hesitates after realizng Hecotr would have killed him

Was a pretty cool way to depict Achilles.

Saw it last night with the GF for the first time. Was better than I thought it would be. Pitt obviously looked cut as hell! Good story and decent action! Worth renting.

Yes, I am familiar with it. But if they would have shot hundreds of arrows at him don't you reckon one of them would have hit his heel?

Saw it again yesterday. Great movie. Can't compare to Alexander which was one of the worst movies of all time.

I was going to get into that but if you know mythology then you know Troy movie took some creative license to make the story of Achilles more acceptable today. In the myth Patraclies wasn't Achillies cousin. He was his lover. Colin Ferel even talked about it in Alexander. I guess Oliver Stone felt the need to be all about the male bisexually of Greece back then although I doubt that's the case for the rest of the world today.

The big guy in the opening scene was none other than Nathan Jones, the most wanted and feared criminal from Down Under.

Don't ask why he is, I haven't figured it out yet, but supposingly he did some hard time and came out a straight legitimate bad ass. He has been hired/fired by the WWE twice.

Nathan Jones is one big, scary baddass mofo. How tall is he in rl?

Kinda funny about they gay lover thing.. I wonder if Brad Pitt made em change the part.

troy was good for battle scenes and fight scenes. acting was pretty bad. but the cgi was amazing. its an epic movie that didnt quite make it as an epic. if your looking for a good fight movie- it satisfies that and only that. id rent it but i wouldnt buy it-tehy should hae kept the original storyline.

Pitt was all for it. "Hollywood" made them change it.

Isn't it interesting that the most fearsome warrirors/leaders were always gay? Achilles, Alexander, Napaleon, Niankhknum and Khnumhotep, Ceasar, Hercules, etc..

LOL AAP I dont think they were gay.. I think they were just really fucking horny all the time and since their was no social stigma against bisexuality during most of those eras.. they went for it.

I have a feeling there would be a lot more of that today in western society if there wasnt such a stigma associated with it.

great movie brad is jacked.. however if achiles was played by michael keaton it would have beeen wayyyy better

Bisexuality up until the middle ages wasn't considered deviant behavior in Europe, it was fairly widespread, particularly among the upper classes. Even into the 19th Century it was fairly widespread in the officer ranks of European armies, which was also composed of the upper classes. Many attribute this to the military institution sub culture. The young boys were typically sent to military academies from a young age to learn the trade of war. Being in an all male environment, like prison, made homosexual behavior more acceptable.

Troy was an awesome movie, bought it right away

nothing beats Braveheart and doubt it ever will

you trying to say steven segal movies aren't as good as bravehart.. sha riight and monkeys might fly outta my butt.

terri garr has been in a fight with multiple scerosis for about 5 years now..very sad.

It is a very good movie. My favorite sequence was when Pitt was calling out Bana and they had that fight, which Pitt just dominated like he wasn't even trying. Then he drags his trophy away behind his cart.

That blonde chick is hella hot too.
