Here's what I always wondered:

Skulo, pronounced Skee Lo, in Greek, means dog. Since it's a common thing for -uh- "melanistically laden" (BLACK!!!) guys from the "not so swell" (GHETTO!!!) neighborhoods to call each other "dog", is this perhaps an almost quasi-intelligent basis for his assumed name?

It struck me as such from the start, but maybe I have just taken too much Ephedrine.
