Recovery issue re: CNS

Just got my cast off two days ago. I had a nasty sprain, nothing was broken, but the orthopedic referral felt a cast was necessary due to the amount of swelling. I knew at the time I had mild shock- I was pretty much out of things for a few days after it happened. Anyway, it soon went away except for a general feeling of - I don't know how to say exactly, not feeling tip-top.

Any, today was my first day back in the gym after 3 weeks. Didn't want to push things, so I thought I'd do a quick circuit of a few light/med. compound lifts just to get back in the flow. My ankle held up great- didn't feel a thing though it's still a bit stiff and swollen. My stamina was unreasonably bad. I was quickly feeling disoriented and drained. I'm assuming my CNS is still a bit fried.

What I"m wondering is of there's anything I can do to combat this situation. My feeling is that this is not something serious and will go away in a certain amount of time. Still, if there's anything I can be doing to aid the process I'd be happy to know about it.

Good to hear a bro's back in training... hope it continues to heal well!

As far as I know the only CNS fix is sleep/rest.

There are drugs to stimulate the CNS and also to Depress it... I'm unaware of any CNS "fixerupers" ... although if you find something like that let me know :)

Sleep and rest- usually the best idea. Just seems like I've been doing too much of it lately. In spite of the nausea it felt so damn good to return to my training.

Drugs are way more than I had in mind. I was thinking there might be some sort of active recovery program I could do. Or possibly something herbal. I should probably run a search as soon as I have some time.

Meantime I'll just take things as slow as I need to. I haven't done any type of cross-circuit stuff since I was a beginner and it seems a good change-up and a usefull way to judge the overall impact of exercise. It should be mostly all good.

Here is my story bro..

I recieved a compound fracture of the humerus during an arm wrestling comp! It sucked....and ended up going through surgery...I had some nerve damage to which made things even worse. I searched for anything that would help with healing...and came across a bunch of bros who used growth hormone to aid the healing process. I decided what the hell and bought a kit and took 2i's everyday for 3 months. The doc didn't expect my nerves to heal for at least 8 months to a year....I had a checkup last week and the doc was suprised to see that my nerve was 80% healed in a little under 3 months. He said that I was at 3 months where he expected me to be at 8 months. Growth hormone is awesome bro....do a little research and think about it!

Might be a good idea, especially because I'm at the age where GH would probably do me a lot of good anyway. Something I hadn't considered.

Workout's getting a little better. Strength is starting to return tho I couldn't overhead squat. My intensity is still not there, but I'm less dizzy and out of breath.

Thanks for posting up, vandelman. It's a good idea.

Definetly a good idea (GH).

I just started researching it myself actually... the only thing that erks me about it is the "reconsitution" of GH... and keeping it in the fridge.

I have alot more research to do, there's some great threads in here on GH.

Yep, research. That's the crux of the issue. Probably won't have time for a serious effort until the week-end. This is going to be a whole new avenue of approach for me.

Yeah I hear ya.... ok, before I pass out... i'm going to see if I can't find a great article I found searching before... good stuff, i'll post up here.

:coffee:

;)

Yeah I tend to do that with whatever I'm obsessing about at the time... researching gets in the way of my carrer and academia ambitions, lol.
