Tech N9ne is one of the most underrated & overlooked MC's in the rap game.If he keeps getting better, he will easily be one of the best rappers of all-time, Top 5 potential.

If you've never heard his songs, here are some samples of his better work so you can download em:
"It's Alive"
"Tormented"
"Slacker"
"Planet Rock 2k"
"Let's Get Fucked Up"
"I'm a Playa"
"Strange Niggaz"
"Here I Come"
"Now Its On"
"Mitch Bade"
"Keep on Keepin On"
"Yada Yada Yada"
"Einstein"
"Psycho Bitch"
"Constantly Dirty"
"Sinister Tech"
"Walk These Shoes"

Tech is that you?

I think that your perception of where Tech might end up in the overall landscape of rap history is quite optimistic. He does have some good songs out, but, making such an outlandish statement only damages your credibility in my eyes.

Tech is from KC, which is where I'm from and he gets significantly more radio time here because of the local ties and I can tell you with certainty that raps all time greats have nothing to worry about.

Now, if you want to listen to him wrapping about ecstasy, drinking, smoking weed and getting f'd up, there's some decent songs on his album Angelic which you were kind enoug to mention. Download, yes. Buy, no. Unless it's in the bargain bin. Peace

While my perception may be optimistic, remember that I merely made a hypothesis, not a statement, and I used the word 'if'. Tech N9ne is a very talented MC and I'd say his mic skills are great. You have to take more in consideration than fame. I'd say Tech is much, much more talented than a monotone rapper like Fabolous. Wouldnt you agree? Also, in all actuality, Tech's subject matter is fairly diverse, although he does have a few songs about partying, which is perfectly acceptable in this era. My guess is that you've just heard the radio hits and maybe his last 2 albums. You need to check his whole catalog, brotha. And maybe the (57th St RDV stuff too).

Bottom line is that the music speaks for the music. If you have a high speed connection, you could have all those songs in minutes. Talent eventually exposes itself, you cant stay underground forever unless you get screwed, die, or retire. Tech isnt a national success yet b/c he's gotten screwed by the industry on numerous occaisions. I cant see him being only a regional star much longer if he keeps putting out quality songs.

Just to make sure you don't misunderstand, I'm not hating on tech, his subject matter or his music.

If Tech had better marketing and the right people pushing him I'm sure he would be a lot more sucessful and well known than he currently is in the music industry. I base that solely on my exposure to him in the local market, what I read, hear and see and think the marketing of tech, or lack thereof, for whatever reason, leaves something to be desired IMO. I do like some of his music, and you are correct in stating that I have only listened to his last two albums. peace
