Radio Shack pisses me off!

Everytime I go into that geek filled place, they want my life history! I buy a battery, they want my phone #, addy, and every thing else. I told him that he doesn't need this information and I do not want your junk mail. He says that he cannot complete the sale without my information........yea right! Ok so the info goes on the receipt, if a .20 cent battery doesn't work, I will throw it away, not spend 3 bucks in gas to return it. Thank GOD wal-mart has customer service.......sorry all had to vent.....

they take that info, sell it to companies who then comile it onto market reasearch CD's and then sell it to anyone who wants to buy it, giving your personal info to anybody

eg they sell a CD which you stick in with thousands of email addy's and you can automatically send an email to each one.

go to a different shop, or put a request that they dont sell this to thrid parties/used within the conglomerate. over here if you do this by law they cant (data protection act) im sure there is the same to

Nice to know I'm not the only one who gets pissed off at this! Just go to another Radio Shack if there's something you need that only they have - a cool RS employee will just use a customer code they have for sales where the customer declines to give information. The sales geeks at the RS down the street actually do this without being asked unless you're buying something like a TV or cell phone.

Do what I do - leave. I went to a store once that was whining about their "give me your address blahblahbalh stuff." I flat out told them: "I get enough telemarketing calls and junk mail as it is... I'd rather just take my stuff and leave." They told me that they "HAD" to get the information in order to complete the sale. I then told them that I "HAD" to go buy the shit elsewhere.

Guess who completed the order without taking my information? =)

we had the exact same thing happen, except you might know that dread lord has a bad temper when it comes to trivial bullshit like that

they would not copmlete the sale (after being extremely rude and not checking us out, there were plenty of employees, they just ignored us)

well, to make a long story short, dread lord ended up throwing shit and knocking stuff down
and when he got outside there was a newspaper stand and he threw that too, which happened to hit the managers truck.

i just told the clerk i don't have the time, he said 'no problem'. Bypass done.

It also helps if you're rocking back and forth like a mental patient or someone who's gotta piss quick time.
