R-ALA ???

THE BOUNCER

New member
Does R-ALA suck or what???

Over the last few weeks there has been a little war on this board about the difference between R-ALA and S-ALA. So lets clear everything up right now and lets stop this little kid stuff! What do you guys think about the 2 is r-ala really that good? People that have tried both would be very helpful here. Let's clear everything up right now, is r-ala worth the money or will you stick with the old s-ala at 2000-3000mgsa day?

its been a long time since i have posted....this post is making me post......increase insulin senstivity, lowers plasma insulin, increases lipoltic window, glucose uptake improves... it works with in 10mins or so,you dont get a gut,no heartburn if you get that already you wont anymore...so r-ALA is great....i used it and my veins are poping out like crazy...i dont feel human..you want studies backing this up?

if this is sarcasm.. maybe a little too subtle :p

if not, ;) .. and keep the feedback and responses coming.. the more the better..

bouncer,

the comparison is between r-ala and racemic (r/s mix which SHOULD be 50/50 though some less scrupulous may have s-ala heavy mix.. though who???.. but given some peoples responses to some racemic mixes.. makes one wonder)

there are no s-ala products (at least none advertised as such, though it is possible.. )

It is too new of a product to have any definate feedback.

good answer..

while the studies show a definitive superiority of r-ala.. how that will playout in the various roles that ALA is used with respect to bodybuilding... is yet to be seen. though the preliminary results are promising.. there may be major difference in methodology of use (particularly KETO.. though this is a cloudy issue at best even with racemic ALA)

though for those using to treat insulin resistance, NIDDM, etc.. the trials already show superiority..

Bouncer..the RACEMIC ala some companys have a different ratio to them...some are good some are not has good..if you want to try the RACEMIC ala try the from AST...thats top notch you get 90 caps for 30-40$.....BUT if you going to spend that on the RACEMIC why not just RUN over the the AF store and try the r-ALA...you get 100caps for 20$ and compare to see whats better....

the RACEMIC ala works..great stuff...i wouldnt mind using it again...i tell people about it always.....8-9 stars out of 10 is what i gave it before

BUT...then the r-ALA came 20 stars out of 10....heres why

when i took the r-ALA i didnt feel human...my veins were poping out like crazy...iam always at a low bf% my veins are always poping...but right know it looks like iam on some eq,winny, fina ect cause of my veins poping out....iam OFF at the time..i looked in the mirror at the end of the week i was in shock..i just bought some r-ALA iam taking 100mgs with 3-4 meals...on the days i train i take 100mgs after training...thats it...iam just eating normal and when the r-ALA came my viens were poping out like crazy....i look much better..hey Bouncer i back up everything i say trust me...

I have been using kilosports ALA with great results. I just ordered R-ALA from the AF store. If less equals more, then I hope to reduce the amount of pills with hopefully the same results. Stuffing 15-20 heart burn inducing, smelly piss causing pills gets tiresome.

Well, I have been on r-ala for about 2-3 weeks now and it is the shit! Now, everybodys results will vary but this week I have been on vacation and eating like shit but have not gained 1 pound. The only supplement i have been taking besides multi-vit, vit-e, vit-c is r-ala. Amazing stuff bros. I have been eating hamburgers, ice cream, candy but not w/o taking a couple of r-ala's before. Like I said, your results may vary.

Another order of r-ala will be placed on Monday!:D

I know you will ignore cbs's post and that you only want to hear from those "on the board" that have used r-ALA but since you've encouraged a discussion on ice cream flavors it appears you don't object to bending the thread starter post. So this is what some doctors say about it. Yes they've used it and done the research on it and yes they have PhD's but maybe we can accept their thoughts, opinions and findings anyway.

"We're finding - and others are, too - that the R(+)-form - the natural form - is much more powerful than the racemic mixture ... Hopefully ... companies are going to be producing on more of a clinical scale the R(+)-form of lipoic acid, because we're finding very significant effects using this, as opposed to the racemic mixture."
Dr. Tory Hagen, in Mitochondrial Decay in Aging.

"We have presented in this study new information indicating that this enhancement of glucose metabolism is sterospecific, with the R(+)-enantiomer being much more effective than the S(-)- enantiomer."
Dr. Ryan Streeper and colleagues, in The American Journal of Physiology.

"Lipoic acid sold in a health food store is a synthetic mixture, a racemic mixture. And R[+]- is the natural form and S[-]- is an unnatural one ... And in our hands R[+]- works and S[-]- doesn't."
Dr. Bruce Ames, in Strategies for Engineered Negligible Senescence.

"R[+]-LA [that is, R(+)-lipoic acid], and not a racemic mixture of R[+]-and S[-]- LA, should be considered a choice for therapeutic applications."
Dr. Lester Packer and colleagues, in Free Radical Biology and Medicine.

"The S[-]-enantiomer … part of the racemate, which is present as about a 50% impurity, needs to be eliminated."
Dr. Guido Zimmer and colleagues, in Methods in Enzymoogy.

I think this should be the comprehensive ALA thread...That way we won't have 7 posts on every page talking about ala...

ulter, i am not disagreing with you here bro. just trying to get people to post there results so we can compare. yes, this should be the ALA thread. mods make this a sticky

Hey ulter and mp69a, don't mean to knock you guys so please do not flame....

But I cannot believe that in the the AF store is the only place in the universe where you can get R-ALA.

I mean, kudos to ulter for being quick to bring this product to market and to aggressively tout it on EF, but other versions ARE available. So far I have only found it available by the kilo but I think we have to be doing our research here.

This shouldn't be ulter and mp69a vs. the doubters.

This should be an open discussion about the relative effects vs. the relative prices of R-ALA vs. racemic ALA.

Once we make sure to find the absolute cheapest source of each is when each person should perform the analysis of which is the best alternative.

There are going to be people who have good income for whom the R-ALA is going to be the way to go. There will be others on a tighter budget who are going to go with the racemic mix.

Let's keep up the discussion and feel free to PM for the source of bulk R-ALA. Hell maybe I can even get it for cheaper than ulter does.
