R-ALA and diabetes?

Distortion

New member
I was just thinking, if R-ALA prevents glucose uptake into fat or whatever, isnt all of that glucose just going around in your body, and wouldn't that cause one to become diabetic?

I thought i read somewhere that they used regular ALA for type 2 diabetes in Europe...I can't find the article, so don't take my word on that...

in short ... NO.

while the actual mechanisms of uptake and metabolic shift are quite complex in the simplest terms... r-ala allows for glucose uptake, but not for maturation of fat cells. So fat still forms lipid droplets, but these are readily used for fuel, also it increases oxidation of carbohydrates (part of the reason people notice body temp increases), and through PPAR-G it increases metabolic rate.

so the glucose is being used or stored (though stored in a much more beneficial pattern) and there is no floating glucose issue.
