I would quickly let the dog in 1st because you know the dog will be more grateful but mostly the reason is because as soon as you let in the wife shes going to (A) follow you (B) nag to you about something (C) ask where you are going - requires explanation

here's what you do.. let them both go on for a bit... hopefully the wifes yelling will irritate the dog and he will go to the front of the house and bite her to shut her up, and then u only need to open up one door to let them both in
