not sure about the exact answer for your question, but I know that I had 30 extra fina pellets left over from about a year ago and decided to throw them in my 4g kit(4600 mgs) and when I was done mixing it all there was alot of black gunk floating around in the vial. I thought I had ruined it, but I just let it sit and settle to the bottom. after filtering it came out great. but no I don't think my extra pellets that I kept for a year were any good.
