Question on video cards

Ok so does "data width" matters that much for gaming ? I have 256 bits (Radeon 9800XT) and used to have a 64 bits (GeForce MX) before and sometimes wonder if really makes such a difference. In other words, what matters on graphic card for gaming ? Data width ? Controller speed ? Memory ? RAMDAC ?

I don't know if you can say which matters MOST! Data width comes into play at the higher resolutions and color depths. If you play games at 1024x768 @ 16-bit color data width isn't much of an issue. You can crank that same game up to 1600x1200 @ 24-bit color and data width matters a hell of alot. Translation: you don't care if the highway into town has 6 lanes if you go to work at 3AM, but if you hit the road at 8AM you care alot.
