question on CKD article

Has anyone read the article on CDK on the Mesomorph website??

The author (Tuuka) wrote a very informative paper...but I am confused because he says to take you bodyweight and multiply by 16 to get your maintenance level. And in Mr. X's article ..he says to multiply by 12....This is quite a difference.

Can someone help me out...Thanx.
 
Mr X is simply reducing the total caloric deficit by a greater amount
to maximize the effects of weight loss on the diet...

Mr X is simply one of the smartest out there when it comes to
diet information. Go with his reccommendations, you won't
be sorry

thanx for the quick response. I can tell that Mr. X know his stuff and have learned alot from his articles. I believe the first article I read is referring to the Active Metabolic Rate as opposed to the Basal. Think I am definitley going to try the CKD for a few weeks. Just got to get setup first.

another question Mr X. I was searching around doing research and I found this post by you last summer....

"1-> 85%fat/15%protein-- BMR-5%
2-> 80%fat/20%protein-- BMR-10%
3-> 80%fat/20%protein--BMR-15%
4-> 75%fat/25%protein--BMR
5-> 70%fat/30%protein--BMR-5%
6-> 80%fat/20%protein--BMR-20%
7-> (CARB-UP) BMR+10/15% (you can go up to 20% if you'd like, but I wouldn't recommend it) "

In you more current digest you say BMR +30% on day 7...Have you changed your ratio after further testing adn dieting??

whats up coz...

I just want to get shredded. Plus I wan to experiment with this diet. I have always wanted to try a Ketogenic diet ever since I read BodyOpus 4 years ago. I never tried it back then because I was playing football at the time and didn't want to lose weight. But right now I just want to try something different.

Currently I am around 210. Probably want to lose 5-10 lbs of fat in the next 4-6 weeks.

From reading I see that you have done the CKD. I plan on buying everything I need this weekend....

Besides food I should get:

1) Chromium
2) Potassium
3) Ketostix
4) measuring cups and spoons
5) a good carb powder

Do know of a good "glucose polymer" powder which I can buy at a local health store?
 
I also want to take some Creatine on my carb up day. I have SynthVol HP which has the following ingredients:

Creatine monohydrate, dextrose, maltose, hydrolyzed wheat gluten (as a source of glutamine peptide), L-arginine, citric acid, natural flavors, taurine, Vitargo® (potato starch), aspartame, beta-carotene for color, Inzitol™ (D-Pinitol), FD&C yellow 6 lake, and sodium selenate.

Has 21g of carbs of which 10g is sugar. I'll probably take a double dosage (42g, 20g).
 
I'm not sure about what glucose polymer you should get.

But your planning looks good. You should do fine... how tall are
you and whats your BF?
 
I am 6'3 and I am going to check my bf% tonight. Its probably around 10-12. I will use calipers i have at home. They are probably not that accurate but they will help evaluate my progress.

I'll probably take stats (bodyweight and bf%) every Saturday and Sunday(maybe Monday morning). To measure the effects of the carb up on my weight because glycogen and water storage.

In Mr.X's guide he promotes Carbo Max or Dextrose for CarbUp days. I have never heard of Carbo Max ..but I am sure there is something similar at the Health store.

I 'll probably carb up this weekend so I am prepared for the diet....(isn't it great how it coincides with SuperBowl.)
