hi people, i was wondering if anyone in this area knew anything about the local cell phone business that goes on there.

there seems to be a market for nokia brand phones where i am and the cheapest places to get these phones seems to be in the asian pacific area.

i know its off topic but this forum gets the most traffic and i didnt know where else to post it.

if anyone has any info, please email or PM me.

thanks a lot.

I lived in Hong Kong and South China and will move back to Hong Kong in one week exactly. As far as cell phones go, China is the place --- especially Hong Kong, Shanghai and Guangzhou in that order. Nokia is rather popular in Hong Kong as well as Motorola and NEC.

They have all three types of old digital networks in Hong Kong, as well as GPRS ("2.5G"), which has a typical bandwidth of around 56k. GPRS PCMCIA cards in laptops and PDAs are the shit in Hong Kong right now (as well as 802.11b). UMTS ("3G") is in the works, and there is a good market for it. Hong Kong is small and highly populated so they can afford to have awesome networks. There are about 7 or 8 cellular network operators in Hong Kong.

Hi plornive, I'm from Hong Kong. Which gym are you going to workout at? I don't think there are many people from Hong Kong in this board.
