Question for the Messicans on here

So I have to replace my house entry door. The door measures 79 in height and 31.25 in wide. Home Depot sells them 80x32 (closest to my measurement), will this work or am I going to have problems?

Nan?

You sure you know how to use a tape measure? All doors are 80 inches tall. Interior doors range from 24 to 32 inches wide in 2 inch increments. Do you have a 0.750" gap in your door, or did a messican frame it for you the first time.

That sounds about right. I've previously never extended a tape measure beyond 10 inches, so I may be off a little. Thanks for your help.

It's just the door not the frame.

Did you tell the dude at home depot what door you were replacing or just look at the doors on the shelf? Firedoors are expensive. It'll be about $700 for an average door and another $300 for the install. They don't normally stock firedoors in the showroom. They are in a catalog at the desk in the door and window department. They'll sell you a door, then send in installer out to measure it before they custom build the door.

Are you messican...should I really be following this advice?

I'm half Hawaiian. We're the messicans of the pacific.

It was an easy question: Did you look at the doors on the shelf, or did you specifically tell the dude what door you were replacing?

I bought an 80x32 metal right hinge inswing door from HD online for instore pickup but it wasn't a fire door. They have a basic firedoor online for $199, I'll go with that then and have someone install it.

Thx Wood

PS Hawaiian is close enough.

Did you buy it pre-hung?

If you just bought the door, then you may need to notch it for the hardware.

did you measure the previous door or the opening? if you did the latter and measured from the floor your floor is proly out of level and got some waves in it.
just hang a sheet or some beads

take this advice...buy it as a prehung unit...trust me!
I woudnt use the dremmel unless you have router bit and base ...
I just replaced 15 of my doors, if I did it again, I would have bought prehung...trust me.
