Question about HIV?

How hard would it be for a male to catch HIV from a female after one episode of unprotected vaginal sex?

If the female was HIV positive & the male did contract it from her how long should the male wait before he got tested?

thanks in advance

You are asking two different questions so one at a time. Your odds of catching HIV or other STD's cannot be put into a numerical calculation. Too be honest, the odds are rather low, BUT they do exist. It has been know to happen too many times. Think about the why about having unprotected sex and look to not doing it again - even with her.

Your second questions assumes that you are already infected, which I said is not likely, but possible. Listen, you should first have an HIV test done right away as a baseline for what type of STD's you may be already carering. Then, you should have a test SIX months after that. Most of these tests don't look directly at the virus (except for a viral load test) but look for an antibody reaction to an active infection. it may take up to six months to be developed enough for a positive test result. Also after six months if you get a negative result and have not had any other type of unprotective sex that can cause transmission, then you are probably in the clear. Remember that other STD's exist too and you could have picked up one of these. Look, buy some condoms and in your own privacy, try one on and get used to the feel and swear to yourself that this will not happen again. I wish you the very best in your test results, and if you have any other questions, please feel free to post them here for all to share, or if something is too embarrassing to say in public, feel free to PM me. Best of luck, Alan.
