Sorry I was away for a few days. Wow, quite a few responses, many a little off, but that's to be expected with a subject like religion. My intention is not to be antagonistic, but to be thought provoking.
My reasoning on Hell goes like this: God made everything. God is good and just. If he is just, then wouldn't He also be fair? For example, having the punishment fit the crime? what could an imperfect, finite being do that would merit an eternity in Hell? So far, the christian response pretty much says that they send themselves to Hell. But wasn't it God who ordained that this is where their path leads if they reject Him? Clearly God is responsible for the existence of Hell and the injustice of it. Why is it that when people die, they have no more ability to choose, grow, and develop? The christian is better how? I see many christians that sin more than non-christians. Their holiness is a sham - it is like God chooses to blind himself to their imperfections but not the imperfections of the non-christians. Are we to assume the christian will never sin in Heaven? - he is not fundamentally changed - his free will allows him to sin. But if by some miracle they never sin in Heaven, why is it impossible for the non-christians to not sin there too?
Think about this - once you are in heaven for about a billion years, BECAUSE OF WHAT GOD HAS ORDAINED, PEOPLE ARE STILL BURNING ALIVE WHILE YOU SING HIS PRAISES.
This is why I believe in a form of Pugatory only - I believe that even after people die, they can still change because they are finite beings and always have a propensity for change, especially if they are undergoing instruction by GOD.
Thank you.
