Question about dreams

When I was working nights last year, I would have to sleep in the day, and I would have the craziest dreams, most were crazy nightmares, like really really weird dreams. Never had dreams like those before and now after working nights and sleeping in the day.

one reason could be is the heat, I didn’t have air conditioning, and I would wake up and it would be in the 90’s and I’v be covered in sweat…..would heat cause nightmarish dreams? Because I would have them like every single time I would go to sleep, now I never have them now that I’m sleeping at night and it’s cool

The only time I have nightmares is when I have a steak/beef late for dinner.

Lately, I've been dreaming the same heavenly dream over and over again. :rose:

When I work nights I usually read in the AM before falling asleep. I usually dream about whatever I was reading. Freaky sometimes, when I wake up and the last bit of dream is still there. I'm either talking or my hands are in the air or something weird. Never really had a nightmare on nightshift sleep.

Since you weren't sleeping soundly you probably woke up in the middle of REM.

You actually dream every night, but only remember dreams if you wake up during REM.

BBB I used to be real into dreams. You can actually control what happends in yoiur dreams if you make an effort to remember them. Once I got into the habbit of remembering them the more and more I could change them when I was sleeping. I have a lot of good dreams mostly sex and stuff. If shit ever gets weird or out of control in my dreams now. I either will wake up or change the course of my dream with my mind.

Very true! Keep a pencil and a notepad by your bed ... it will help you remember the next day.

You always wake up with a smile? I must have been in it. :p

There is a male in them, but I'm afraid it isn't you (unless you have a Southern accent). It's nice to go to bed with a smile and wake up smiling.

heard you can go nuts from lucid dreaming
you only remember the dream when the REM cycle is interrupted...you dream like 10 times in a night

About 3 or 4 times a night ... every couple of hours.

Good thing you are literally paralyzed when you're in REM ... you can't "act out" your dreams.

That's wierd, because colder air is supposed to promote nightmares moreso than if you slept in a warmer room.

great call. there's a neat dream dictionary for sale on amazon... I have some academic/research stuff into dreams/dream dictionaries if people want to pm me...

really? never heard of that, i heard like if you have to go to pee, or something is happening and you need to get up, your body will create a nightmare to wake you up

yeah, i wrote a few of them down because i would make myself get up and write, pretty weird

so you control them to be sexual? i know what you're saying, but it seems like some dreams i have control over and some i dont, did you train yourself to have control over yours?

its more because lower temps are more conductive to dreams. Your body temp is the lowest during the time when you are most likely to dream, which is early in the morning when you have a cycle that is normal

Yes I basically have control of all of them now. Not all my dreams a sexual only a majority. I had a problem with nightmares when I was 16 that is when I got into dreams and kept a dream journal. The more that I would think about remembering them before I slept the more I could control them.

Check out the movie Waking Life, its got some good commentary on dreams and lucid dreaming...

There are some ways to tell yourself you are dreaming.. one is to try to turn off the lights in the dream or look at a clock. If the lightswitch doesnt work or the time on the clock changes everytime you look at it, chances are you are dreaming.. once you are aware you are dreaming you have more ability to do what you want in the dream.

There are also herbs you can take to promote intense dreams.. One of them is called Calea Zacatechichi, another is Mugwort (Artemis vulgaris)... with the mugwort you can make a dream pillow and put some mugwort into it or some mugwort oil on it and you will find yourself having more intense dreams..

I find I get weird ass dreams to,and Im on nights, who knows why,its not to hot here,I figure it may be exhaustion as Im tired when I get off work
