Question about body temperature.

So its the smoking that causes me to be cold alot? Is this due to poor circulation possibly? But i have smoked for a long time, but when i was heavier i was never cold, always hot. Now, mind you, Im not thin and I dont have real low bodyfat so Im curious.

do you suppose it is something i should definitely mention to my doctor? are there ways to test what causing it, or will the doctor just make an educated guess.

i don't smoke and i'm always freezing.....i walk around w/goosebumps most of the day regardless of the weather....

well youre built like a twig with boobies that explains that.

lol j/k :p

Like every girl I know is always cold. It can be like 600 degrees outside, and they're dressed like they're going skiing. You're all weird.

Go deadlift.

I know when I take NSAIDs that makes me feel colder than usual.

Remember coldness is felt as the difference between your body temperature and ambient. That's why when you have a fever you get the chills.

IS there any reason your body temp is higher than normal? AMbient temp lower than normal?

CHange in diet?

I think anemia would also cause you to feel cold.

i'm always cold too, maybe it's a chicago thing....since it seems like it's never going to get warm outside.

Coldness can be caused by low iron, low thyroid, poor circulation, and probably other things. BUT many females have coldness because of a slowed-down metabolism, due to too much dieting. Eating small meals every 2-3 hours will keep your metabolism up and you'll feel warmer because your body must burn energy just digesting that food.

Also, eating more frequently will give you more energy, so you'll move around more, which will also make you feel warmer (and burn more calories in the bargain).

Think of your body like a furnace. If you add fuel throughout the day, the fire will keep burning and be warm. If you go too long between meals, the fire burns out and your body gets cold.

People always think fat is a good insulator, but in truth, muscle is an even better insulator, because it's mobile and has lots more blood capillaries circulating through it.

well, i eat every 2 1/2 hours and i'm still freezing. i also drink cold water constantly throughout the day. could the water have an impact on keeping a low body temp?

Some people believe that drinking cold water helps them burn more calories because their body has to use energy to warm the water up, but still I hate drinking cold water because it makes me cold. I think the calorie difference is negligable. In the winter, I heat my water (except at the gym).

My wife has the same problem, she`s always cold. Doctors she`s been to have no clue, pathetic. She is slightly anemic though. All the responses seem to hit it dead on, anemia, low blood sugar, thyroid.

A while ago I sorta diagnosed it myself with the thyroid. I have no idea what I`m doing but after the docs did`nt help, I reasearched a little and came to that conclusion. My wife won`t listen to me though. Good luck with it and please keep us posted if you do anything about it.

Ok well im leaning more toward anemia as I know I was diagnosed in high school. I suppose I will mention this to my doc at my next visit and maybe have a test done to see what iron levels look like. Thanks guys.

Oh, and i dont think the problem is with not eating frequently enough LOL never had that problem. and also i have enough muscle theoretically to keep me warm, certainly more than the average female.
