Question about Body Fat in relation to Weight...

Before I started working out, I had my body fat tested. I was about 148 lbs and 33.1% body fat.

Today I was calipered again, months later, and the totals are 141 lbs and 22.4% body fat.

I had read somewhere in my research that when I reached 18% BF I would weigh approximately 115 lbs. I don't see how that will be possible. LOL.

So, my question is... do I need to start focusing more on WEIGHT loss at this point? Are there any changes I need to make in my goals?

Also, given the numbers above, can anyone tell me how to figure out how many pounds I lost in fat and LBM?

Tks.

148 lbs *33.1%= Weight of Adipose tissue = 49.0 lbs
148 lbs - Weight of Adipose Tissue = LBM = 99 lbs

141 lbs *22.4% = 31.6 lbs
141-31.6 = 109.4 lbs

It is not strange for people relatively new to weight training to increase lean body mass while losing weight. In fact wish it were still as easy to do for me :)

Well what is your goal? To reach 18% bf, or 115lbs?

I don't how it is possible someone to tell you that at 18% you will weigh 115lbs. Muscle weighs more than fat, in a sense because it is more dense and takes up less space.

You could possible be 140lbs, and 18%, if you continue to put on muscle and lose fat.

Also some people muscles are more dense that others, take for example Daisy, I remember her saying she has quite dense muscle she was at 15% but weighed I think I around 140, you would have never thought by looking at her pics that she was 140.

I would go on how you look and how your clothes fit, than depending on numbers. :)

Weight can vary dramatically depending on LBM. Shawn Ray is 5'7" 215lbs. at contest weight (which means scary low BF). Nobody could predict that BF:Weight ratio unless they knew he was super buff. Just focus on BF%.
