Psyllium husks.... dammit!!

After making the same mistake with cocoa powder, Splenda, onions and garlic.... checking CalorieKing.com, it seems that psyllium husks also has more carbs than I realised.

I thought it was pure fibre, so I didn't need to worry about it. But apparently there's no fibre in it at all..... but it's 20% carbs and 30% protein. Obviously I don't ingest huge amounts.... but I've been adding probably about 2 tablespoons (I don't know exactly, since I pour it straight from the packet) into my meal replacement shakes.

I don't think it would be enough to make a difference to ketosis.... I certainly hope not.

But what's the deal with psyillium husks and the fibre content? I thought it was almost pure fibre, and I thought you didn't need to count fibre carbs.

Get the NOW! brand husks. They have no carbs, all fiber. I use them, ad so do many others and don't get kicked out of ketosis. You prob bought a kind that is not 100% pure husk, check the label to make sure. The place I get mine is beyondacentury.com.

It might make a difference, I think you might have the store bought fiber where they add sugar. Just the other day I saw metamucill on sale and they added 11g sugar to the mix, what a waste of a good product.

do a search for fiber, and you'll come up on psyllium husk which is pure w/o carbs or added preservatives....

The psyllium I buy doesn't seem to have added sugar. Certainly doesn't make any mention of it on the label.... and it has absolutely zero taste.

It's just I checked calorieking.com and their list for psyllium husks freaked me out a bit.

As long as your brand has NO sugar, you'll be fine.
