Very cool news!


Sony Computer Entertainment announced it will release a Linux-enabled version of its PlayStation 2 video game console for worldwide release following a Japanese launch over the summer.

SCEI's chief technical officer, Shin'ichi Okamoto, said at a presentation at the Rambus Developer Forum in San Jose, Calif., that the company was planning to make an announcement about a "worldwide" version of the kit "soon," although he did not give a release date.

GTA 3 is an awesome game. I picked it up yesterday and it's fun as hell. Similar to the first 2, but this one is fully 3D and has some new twists too the game. Very innovative on the developers' part. You can drive around the city in stolen cars as usual, but it's even funner to walk around on foot and fight people. First time I got out of my ride I went up to a bum and dropped him in one punch and then proceeded to stomp him to death, complete with fresh blood per stomp.

Last I heard they have 15 rollout titles and RAW IS WAR is one of them. That game alone is worth picking one up as far as I'm concerned. I think I'm going to have to get rid on my DreamCast to make some room in my entertainment center. My modded PS1 stays though.

xbox has some awesome games at release.. nfl fever looks to destroy madden.. which is also out at release... fortunately, nfl2k2 comes out SOON for ps2.. maybe that will allow me to play that fucking system instead of watching dvd's.

Although I love my PS2, I think that a lot of games are from the toilet, although I am sure this will improve as developers get to grips with the programming.

However, I think that X-Box will surely fail.

There isn't going to be a shortage in the US. They are releasing it in the USA first, which is a first for any console. Their production plant is capable of pumping out 100,000 units a week and I'm sure they have a fat stock ready for the release date.

You can beat up the cops all you want. It's great from what I've played so far. If you knock someone out you will get cash if they have any, beatup a cop and you will get his gun. You can take your foot or a bat to someone and stomp or bash them to death. The paramedics will come after that and the cops sometimes too. They swear all throughout the game. The people walking around are great and funny too. Some of the hookers are all cracked out and the dialogue is funny as hell. They swear in the game too.

Steal a taxi and you can go around and pickup fares and earn extra money. Steal a cop car and you can play in vigilante mode and go take down some criminals for cash. Ambulences and Firetrucks will give you different modes to play in and earn money on the side too.

I attacked some black thug looking guy and all his boys jumped on me and smoked my ass. It was great. I'm sure the parent groups and likes will be all over this game. Other than that it's the same deal as the first 2. You around doing missions for the gangs like the Sicilians, Yakuza, A latino gang, a black gang, etc.. The 3D world makes it worth picking up alone, but all the other stuff I mentioned blew me away. I never expected any of that shit.

I only played it for about an hour so far and that's all the stuff I've seen so far. It has a ton of cutscenes and the storyline is awesome so far.

I just went to the store and picked one up about 3 or 4 weeks ago. They had plenty in stock.

So how much do they cost at the store?

On ebay they are going for $250-$300

Then you'll probably want to grab a memory card and another controller.

My dual shock 1 controller from the ps1 works fine on the PS2, so I just use that.

Don't buy the Sony memory card. You can get a way faster one called the MadKatz for cheaper.
