Prozac as a strong appetite supressant

Has anyone here ever used or heard of the use of prozac as an appetite supressant?

A doctor friend of mine is worried about the ephedrine I have been using and has instead prescribed me a low dose (10mg a day) of prozac. He tells me that it is well known among many doctors that prozac has an inhibiting effect on appetite, however they cannot legally prescribe it for this reason. They can only use it for treatment of conditions for which it has been through official clinical trials and received official approval.

Comments anyone?

I've never tried prozac for appetite but norephedrine is crazy for me, after I take a few pills, i dont want to eat for 8 hours afterward.

I find that norephedrine or ephedrine is less effective on me these days.

But my friend is cautious about ephedra products because he says they have a wide range of side-effects which provide no advantages for my BBing/weight loss goals whereas low dose prozac is a much safer option.

The script he wrote me is officially for depression even though 10mg daily for a body my size will have minimal psychoactive effects. He's not allowed "officially" to write me a script for it for weight loss purposes. But he says he has done this for overweight diabetics and it has been effective.

HMMmm, I'm not sure how effective it will be.. Typically all anti depressants, especially those in the SSRI class, as Prozac is, usually tend to INCREASE your appetite. Try having TOPRIMATE prescribed for you. I see a lot of people being prescribed it now for weight loss.

hanz...prozac could help with carb cravings and/or food cravings in general..i have bad night-time carb cravings and often wake during the night to eat..i do so well controling myself during the day,but at night i get so damn hungry..anyhow,after my divorce 4 years ago i went on paxil..while on paxil i totally lost my food cravings..i could go to sleep hungry and stay in bed..just wasn't interested in eating like before..too bad i couldn't have an orgasm either..so i left the paxil behind

Hmmm, well he seems to think that it decreases appetite in the majority of people. Maybe it is dose related. I'm taking a tiny dose. In any case taking it is the only way to find out for sure.

I picked up my prescription today. I have to wait 24 hours till after my last ephedrine intake before I can use it. He says the combination will send my blood pressure right up.

Once again, I don't know if he is being a typically cautious doctor. I would have liked to use both because I want the anti-catabolic effects of ephedra. I didn't mention that I am cycling the ECA intermittently with clenbuterol. I suspect clen won't be ideal either because I assume it has the same sort of effects as epehrine.

Does anyone know anything about this? I want to follow doctors orders, but at the same time I know that doctors are extremely cautious.
